Beeripmo Overnight Walk

Beeripmo Overnight Walk

There was plenty of banter in the lead up to this walk about the temperature and if we were going to get a dusting a of snow that the nearby Grampians had just received. Although the temperature did reach 0 degrees, we unfortunately didn’t get the snow but the clear calm weather made for absolutely brilliant winter walking conditions. With quality sleeping bags, and some TSA effort to bring in extra blankets paid off with warm hikers, a great campfire and yummy food including wine, damper and s’mores (which a client thoughtfully brought and we hadn’t heard of before!) The walking was pretty much up on day one then down on day two and with lots of views and great single track for the entire journey. We’ll be going again so Like us on Facebook to keep informed, and check out the video HERE.

Muesli Slice

Muesli Slice

Muesli slice
½ cup Muesli
½ cup Oats
½ cup Coconut
200g Butter
200 g Brown sugar
½-1 cup Plain Flour

In a saucepan melt butter and brown sugar, keep stirring and add in the muesli, oats and coconut. Once combined take off and stir in flour so you get a dough.
Spread the dough out in a baking dish and cook for 15 min. The slice should still be a little soft in the middle and starting to brown on the top.
Optional add melted chocolate over the top.

Overnight Oats

Overnight Oats

Overnights Oats
½ cup Oats
1 tbsp Chia Seeds
1 tsp Almond Meal
Frozen Berries

In a bowl mix the oats, chia and almond meal and mix together. Pour in a mason jar, or any glass and cover with water or milk. The oats will absorb the water, so check after a few minutes and add more until the oats are covered again. Add berries on top. Put lid on and place in the fridge overnight.

Happiness is your choice.

Happiness is your choice.

Happiness is your choice.
Winter can be a tough time for some of us, darker colder days make it harder to get up and about. We believe that happiness is a choice and thinking positively can play a huge part in enjoying every season… so how do we do this?
I am generally a happy person, but even I have times when I feel down which we all know is normal. The real trick in remaining positive is catching yourself as you start to feel like this and doing something about it.
I have noticed five traits that I think contribute to me having a positive attitude:

Be healthy, be active, and eat well
To me this says most of it. To be positive and happy you have firstly to enjoy being you and enjoy what you do. For the most part, you don’t need to be told what to eat, how to move and when to sleep – you are smart to know what you need. I’m here to say that you deserve to eat good healthy food, sleep well and take the time to be fit. Stop feeling guilty.
Act positive
Things are rarely as bad as they seem and there is often an alternative so give yourself time to think and process. Talking about it is always good and we should problem solve our lives to get the best out of it. It’s OK to not be positive all the time as life isn’t all roses which needs to be acknowledged. However if we maintain our focus on comparing to others, wallowing in what we don’t have, and blaming others without making our own changes is a surefire way to end up with middle aged depression. When life is hard you have to smile and step forward…chat to friends, hug someone and remember that life is good.
Be social
There are so many times when it is easier to just put slippers on, sit on the couch, read a book, or clean the house again. However maintaining good and diverse social connections will make you feel connected. Work, friends or social groups will all make a difference to your life and sometimes this will come at the expense of a clean house because they may time to cultivate and to maintain, however the mental health benefit is tangible. Its pretty rare to make the effort to go out with friends and say I shouldn’t have done that…
Change something
Change isn’t bad. The fear of chance of often a greater hindrance that the change itself and when the decision has been made then the transition is a matter of putting one foot in front of the other. It can take courage to mix things up and walk a different way to the shops, wear a new outfit, or push ourselves a little further from our areas of comfort. The resistance associated with change makes it hard to become an adaptable and resilient person. It’s great to develop an attitude that welcomes change and makes your life rich with experience.
Be grateful
Every experience, person and adventure that we encounter throughout our lives is what makes our memories and creates a sense of achievement in life. Worry less about things that you don’t have and spend your time, money and energy on living and gaining experiences that will enrich your life and the lives of others. There is an adage that money and material possessions will not make you happy and this is a true to a point. Spend your money wisely and in doing so remember what creates life experiences.
