When is the last time you did something for the first time?
Life gets in the way…. and all too often we put everyone before us. Kids, partners, work, housework, kids sports commitments, parties….. and before you know it the ‘me’ time is all but a memory.
We’ve all been there
Unfortunately, we tend to lose our confidence and willingness to try new things in the process. I bet you can think of something you did when you were younger and now think ‘oh I couldn’t do that now… I’m not fit enough/confident enough to pull that off’.
We tend to measure ourselves against others, and that itself, is the biggest mistake. The only person you should be comparing yourself to is the you of yesterday.
It’s a known fact that the anticipation of starting something is the hardest part of the process. It is all too easy to find all the reasons you shouldn’t start, especially when it comes to your fitness and activity goals. Do any of the following sound familiar?
– I’ll do it next week when I’ve got a little more time
– I’d rather be a little bit fitter/thinner before I do it
– I’ll wait till the weather warms up a bit
– I don’t have the right gear/clothes/shoes right now, I’ll get them though.
It’s a cliché but– the smaller your goals are, the more likely you are to achieve them!
