Ruapehu Crater Lake
This is a no fixed trail walk, with possible snow under foot. First we take the two chairlifts to 2000m to the highest cafe in the southern hemisphere then we pick our way through volcanic rock and up the ridgelines to summit at nearly 2800m. There is an option to do the lesser graded Skyline walk.
Considered NZ’s best day hike, and one of the best one day walks in the world. This well formed track has amazing views and skirts two active volcanos. This is an alpine crossing and the weather can change quickly, so we will need to be prepared. There are two optional side trips for those up for the extra challenge (weather permitting)
(OPT) Tama Lakes
This walk takes you to the Crater lakes on the saddle between Mt Ruapehu and Mt Ngauruhoe. A scenic walk on good paths where you can admire the surroundings and enjoy a moderate grade walk.
Tarawera trail walk
A beautiful 15km walk, alongside the lake, a couple of hills and lots of views, but the best bit about this walk is the end. Bring your swimmers to soak in the mineral springs at hot water beach, yes the water is hot! Then a trip on a taxi boat will take us back to the finish line
Rainbow Mountain, summit track
This walk offers great views of two volcanic craters set against a backdrop of bare brown, orange and red steaming cliffs. The Summit Track leads up through regenerating native vegetation and past steaming rainbow-coloured rocks. The climb to the summit is rewarded with magnificent 360-degree views of the surrounding Rotorua lakes, forests and mountains.

Tracey, Adrian and Jess, guys thank you so much for a such a challenging and adventurous overnight hike last night. It was great to meet so many enthusiastic, positive and fun fellow hikers. My legs are feeling the 28k’s today and still a little jet-lagged but also feeling very accomplished. Thanks again and hope to join another adventure soon.
PS – the food was all fantastic
they are awesome! They take the time and help you with every aspect of hiking and just trail walking. Help with equipment and just general knowledge with what to bring and what to expect. My favourite was the food!!! In abundance and very satisfying. Rate the team highly
What an amazing awesome weekend at the Yoga and Hiking retreat. Spent time with friends and meet some new people. Learnt yoga and meditation, run a 7km run along the rail trail. Played some activities and completed a 9km bush walk. And the food was awesome. Highly recommend anyone to go and do.
Thank you for an amazing weekend away.
