Overview
This is a great hiking day out! Get ready for scrambling sections to get the adrenaline pumping and lots of hills as you scale the razorback whilst taking in some amazing views. This circuit requires good fitness, and you will need to be confident on exposed rock scrambles for long durations.
After a long steady uphill start, the track turns into a sensational walk up the side of the ranges to Mount Sugarloaf involving some exposed climbing and very steep ascents. You then carefully make your way along the challenging and rewarding razorback. This very technical track has a few tricky sections where we will be there to lend a hand, plus consistent technical walking. After a hearty lunch accompanied by sitting back and taking in the magnificent scenery, we start the descent back to river level before the flat walk back to the start. Youโll feel inspired and proud of your achievements after this exhilarating day out.
This is a Grade 5 walk due to the technical terrain, not the distance. If you love rocky scrambling walks, this is your kind of day out. This is also a perfect hike to test your fitness or build endurance if you’re training for another adventure. Please Note: This is a longer and more challenging hike. While our goal is to finish by 3:30 PM, please keep in mind that as a group, the pace may vary, and the hike could take longer. Conditions at the top can be colder, so be sure to bring extra warm clothes to layer on. Walking poles can be helpful, and itโs essential that your footwear has good grip.

What our adventurers have said
Just finished up the Cathedral Ranges South walk; TSA was not wrong about it being Grade 5 and including rock scrambling, but we did it! It still managed to be an amazing and challenging experience. - Kylie Duggan
