The Flinders Ranges is an awe-inspiring outback wonder with weathered rocky peaks and views over the ranges stretching as far as the horizon - truly an adventurer’s delight. Amazing sunrises and sunsets gleam off the red rocks, the stars burn bright at night, and the area hums with an ancient aura that you can only experience in the vast terrain of Australia's interior. Over four days, you will walk down ancient river beds, past huge river red gums, and up spectacular peaks to gaze at landscapes formed in Earth's ancient history.

While this trip is packed with hiking, there is still plenty of time in the evenings for enjoying a glass of wine while our guides prepare a delicious dinner. With all your food, transport, and planning taken care of, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve in a few short days. Itinerary

Day 1 Welcome

We pick you up from either Adelaide CBD at a pre arranged spot or the Airport before driving north. We head towards Melrose for lunch and then enjoy a short side trip down the steep road to Alligator Gorge. Here, we enjoy a scenic walk along the terraces and down the valley to make a loop. (4km) Back in the vehicle and full of fuel, we will continue north into drier country as we pass Port Augusta and into the Flinders Ranges. Once we reach our accommodation, you'll get time to relax, eat, and get ready to explore!

Day 2 Rawnsley Bluff and Mount Ohlssen Bagge

A double peak day! To make the most of our four day trip, we head off early this morning to climb Rawnsley Bluff. (9km) This out-and-back walk provides great views over the ranges and you will start to get used to the terrain as you tackle the rocky paths. We will then head into Wilpena Pound for a lunch break before starting our second walk later in the afternoon, climbing as far as we want up Mount Olssen Bagge. (7.4km) This hike gives us a different view of the pound and has photo opportunities all the way up. Because this is an out-and-back hike, you will be able to take your time and enjoy the views or work hard to ascend to the top of this second summit.

Day 4 Jeff Morgan Gallery, Kanyaka Ruins, and Port Germein Pier

We'll be on the road around 8 am, heading south to the unique Jeff Morgan Gallery. This 360° gallery has some incredible paintings of the Flinders Ranges and it's a wonderful experience to view these after having been to the actual locations. You can grab yourself a souvenir before jumping back on the bus to continue south. Stop at the Kanyaka ruins for a short stretch and then onto Port Germain Pier for lunch. Returning to the bus for the last time, you can reflect on your achievements, walking, and great new trail friends.
