Macedon – Short Hike

A favourite starting point for our longer walks, this is also a great spot to start a morning short walk around the lower tracks and trails of the Macedon Ranges. With the trails getting slippery in winter, this area is a wonderful place to absorb some greenery and expel some carbon dioxide as you hop and skip your way around the mountain. This may seem daunting but your sense of accomplishment at the end will outweigh any doubts you may have! Hills are the best way to improve your fitness and some lively conversation with new friends will get those synapses firing. A perfect morning hike for those wanting a challenge.

We know that sometimes you just want to get out, catch up, have a social morning and get a little more confident on the trail. Our short walks are your best opportunity when you don’t have a whole day to spare, and we’ll have some morning snacks available to keep you going. It’s a great way to start your day, have a little exploration and get you feeling happier and healthier!
Our short hikes are usually less than 10km and graded 2-5 with 2 being at the easier end of the scale and perfect for beginners and those just wanting a social stroll. They are a great way to gain confidence, meet like minded people and start a journey of hiking. Our 4-5 hikes will have a few more undulations and a quicker pace, and suitable for those with moderate to good fitness and there is always the chance of an extra TSA ‘let’s go this way’ element.

All our staff are Remote First Aid trained, have comprehensive first aid kits and carry UHF radios and PLBs when required.

Additional Information

What to bring
  • A drink bottle, or two bottles on a hot day
  • A small backpack
  • Medication, camera, etc…
  • Hat or beanie depending on weather
  • Walking poles if you normally carry them
  • Walking clothes suitable for the weather on the dayc
Food
As this is a short hike we do not provide lunch. We do provide some light snacks to fuel you along the trail. This could be orange slices, protein balls, lemon slice or lollies. Please bring your own water.
