Why join a beginner hike?

We have a lot of enquiries that start with ‘I don’t want to slow everyone down’, and these walks are tailored to suit you so that you never feel left behind. Our goal is for you to feel supported as you begin a journey outside, and this starts with small wins, and a feeling of community and inclusion. We’d love to have you join us for a Whitsunday tour or a trip to the Bay of Fires, and that journey has to start somewhere.

We hope this will enable you to achieve and ultimately smash any hike you choose! We will not only motivate you, give you tips, inspire you and show you what it is possible to achieve, introduce you to like minded people and empower you to dream big!

What to do after your beginner hikes:

At Take Shape Adventures, we have something for everyone. From Day Hikes and Weekend Escapes to Micro Adventures and Corporate Tours.

Overcoming Burnout and Stress is as Simple as Taking a Walk

As the year draws to a close, stress and burnout often reach their peak. In fact, an American Psychological Association (APA) 2021 survey showed that 79% of U.S. employees were struggling with work-related stress, with three out of five experiencing adverse impacts. Given recent trends, it’s unlikely that these numbers have improved dramatically. Globally, rising…

Why Tough Adventures Make You Happier

Sometimes, the best adventures don’t go according to plan. One hike through the Cathedral Ranges Southern Circuit in October 2017 still stands out as a prime example. What began as a tough challenge, featuring pelting rain and cold with no easy escape, became one of the most meaningful memories for everyone involved.

  • Why Water isn’t Enough for Hiking Hydration

Why Water isn’t Enough for Hiking Hydration

When it comes to hiking, staying hydrated is one of the most crucial factors in maintaining energy, endurance, and generally feeling good along the trail. But there’s more to hydration than simply drinking water. In fact, water alone can sometimes be counterproductive, particularly when you’re exerting yourself on a long and challenging hike.

It’s Okay to Say No, but are You Saying Yes to What Really Matters?

Every day we’re reminded more and more often, especially as women, to take back our power and to “just say no”. Whether it’s refusing extra work tasks that will lead to burnout, rejecting unrealistic beauty standards, pushing back against societal pressures… I love it all! I love that we’re encouraged to set boundaries, live authentically,…

Embracing an Adventure Mindset for World Mental Health Day

I’m so excited to see this theme being selected as a focus for this year. As someone who is deep in the literature on…

    The Uncomfortable Truth About Happiness

Coming from a background in health and fitness, I spent years writing diets and fitness plans based on “shoulds”—should hit this weight, should maintain this heart rate, should look or feel a certain way. For a long time, I believed that ultimate happiness came from comfort and calm. A peaceful, stress-free life seemed like the…
