GUIDANCE
Our friendly and experienced guides will help you take the first steps with confidence, fun and ensure that you achieve your goals.
GREAT COMMUNITY
Create long-lasting connections and frendships with like-minded people. Our community is one of the largest hiking communities in Australia and keeps growing every year!
WHERE
Our beginner walks are located in and around the Darebin Parklands, and creek environs in Alphington. It’s easy to park and you can get there by public transport.

Why join a beginner hike?
We have a lot of enquiries that start with ‘I don’t want to slow everyone down’, and these walks are tailored to suit you so that you never feel left behind. Our goal is for you to feel supported as you begin a journey outside, and this starts with small wins, and a feeling of community and inclusion. We’d love to have you join us for a Whitsunday tour or a trip to the Bay of Fires, and that journey has to start somewhere.
We hope this will enable you to achieve and ultimately smash any hike you choose! We will not only motivate you, give you tips, inspire you and show you what it is possible to achieve, introduce you to like minded people and empower you to dream big!

Why Adventure Stories Last Forever
It might be a little sad to admit, but our world is increasingly defined by individualism and digital isolation, and the act of sharing stories has become more vital than ever. For centuries, storytelling has been humanity’s way of passing on wisdom to the next generation, preserving traditions, and fostering connection. This is how we…
You Need to Remember These 3 Hiking Nutrition Tips
There are few things more important than fuelling your body the right way on your hike. Eating for bushwalking is very different from eating for general exercise. Your food intake during a day trip, overnight walk, or longer trip has a direct impact on how you fare during your activity. Find out why your hiking…
5 Ways to Stay Merry this Christmas Holiday Season
The festive season is here, and while it’s a time for joy and togetherness, it can also bring stress and overwhelm to many. Understandable! With so much to organise and a very full social calendar, it’s commendable that many of us get through the season fully intact! To help you truly enjoy the season, here…
Overcoming Burnout and Stress is as Simple as Taking a Walk
As the year draws to a close, stress and burnout often reach their peak. In fact, an American Psychological Association (APA) 2021 survey showed that 79% of U.S. employees were struggling with work-related stress, with three out of five experiencing adverse impacts. Given recent trends, it’s unlikely that these numbers have improved dramatically. Globally, rising…
Do You Need Mental or Physical Downtime?
Life can be hectic…Trust us. As business owners, we get it! Between work, kids, running a household, studying, trying to keep a social life, and every other thing that life loves to throw your way, it’s enough to make you want to go and lay on a beach somewhere. But is that actually what we…
Why Tough Adventures Make You Happier
Sometimes, the best adventures don’t go according to plan. One hike through the Cathedral Ranges Southern Circuit in October 2017 still stands out as a prime example. What began as a tough challenge, featuring pelting rain and cold with no easy escape, became one of the most meaningful memories for everyone involved.
Why Water isn’t Enough for Hiking Hydration
When it comes to hiking, staying hydrated is one of the most crucial factors in maintaining energy, endurance, and generally feeling good along the trail. But there’s more to hydration than simply drinking water. In fact, water alone can sometimes be counterproductive, particularly when you’re exerting yourself on a long and challenging hike.
It’s Okay to Say No, but are You Saying Yes to What Really Matters?
Every day we’re reminded more and more often, especially as women, to take back our power and to “just say no”. Whether it’s refusing extra work tasks that will lead to burnout, rejecting unrealistic beauty standards, pushing back against societal pressures… I love it all! I love that we’re encouraged to set boundaries, live authentically,…
Embracing an Adventure Mindset for World Mental Health Day
The stars are aligning. Why? Because it’s World Mental Health Day, the theme is ‘Mental Health at Work’, and I’m wrapping up my Positive Psychology Organisational Assignment for my Master’s program! I’m so excited to see this theme being selected as a focus for this year. As someone who is deep in the literature on…
The Uncomfortable Truth About Happiness
Coming from a background in health and fitness, I spent years writing diets and fitness plans based on “shoulds”—should hit this weight, should maintain this heart rate, should look or feel a certain way. For a long time, I believed that ultimate happiness came from comfort and calm. A peaceful, stress-free life seemed like the…
What Kayakers Can Teach Us About Living Well
Some plunge down waterfalls while others fish from their vessels, but kayakers have one thing in common: They all know a thing or two about leading a healthy lifestyle. Bobbing around on a kayak offers a lot more than a relaxing way to spend a sunny afternoon. Here’s what kayakers can teach the rest of…

WHY CHOOSE
TAKE SHAPE ADVENTURES
FRIENDSHIP
Most of the people that come on our tours come by themselves. Our community is built on friendships that have been made on our trips, experiencing something life changing together, the shared memories and also goals to do more in the future! We encourage people not to be anxious about coming on these trips by yourself as we promise you will leave with some like minded friends and be really glad you made the decision to get out of your comfort zone and join in.
BELONG
Our community is our backbone. We have had so many people start with no hiking experience, basic fitness and not knowing anyone on our trips. These same people have gone on to do some incredible multi day hiking trips with us and their friends they have met in our community. Witnessing the development of their fitness, confidence, experience, friendships and happiness is why we do what we do. Come join us and let us help you get from the couch to the top of the mountain!
ADVENTURE
Experiences, not things. The moments that take your breath away. The feeling of accomplishment and the realisation that you are capable of so much more than what you thought. The views that blow your mind and the ticking off of bucket list items. We take all the hard work out of it for you. We organise the lot so you can just turn up and get the best of your experience without all the headaches of organising/logistics. We make it easy for you to do all the thing you want to do – you just need to turn up and be ready to jump into life!
