Why join a beginner hike?

We have a lot of enquiries that start with โ€˜I donโ€™t want to slow everyone downโ€™, and these walks are tailored to suit you so that you never feel left behind. Our goal is for you to feel supported as you begin a journey outside, and this starts with small wins, and a feeling of community and inclusion. Weโ€™d love to have you join us for a Whitsunday tour or a trip to the Bay of Fires, and that journey has to start somewhere.

We hope this will enable you to achieve and ultimately smash any hike you choose! We will not only motivate you, give you tips, inspire you and show you what it is possible to achieve, introduce you to like minded people and empower you to dream big!

What to do after your beginner hikes:

At Take Shape Adventures, we have something for everyone. From Day Hikes and Weekend Escapes to Micro Adventures and Corporate Tours.

  • The Kokoda Trail: 12 Things Australians Need to Know

The Kokoda Trail: 12 Things Australians Need to Know

Few journeys carry the weight of history quite like the Kokoda Trail. Young Australian soldiers, many of them barely out of their teens,…

When Negativity Bonds Us Faster Than Positivity

We plan plenty of activities here at Take Shape Adventures, from workshops to wellbeing sessions to our standard adventures. Being a company all about people and creating these activities for public groups, we open ourselves up to feedback and unpredictability. We naturally donโ€™t get everything right, especially with the volume of adventures we currently run.…

How to Stop Approaching Wellbeing Backwards

In positive psychology, two of the strongest predictors of long-term wellbeing are belonging and meaning. What? Itโ€™s not productivity or achievement or comfort? In Martin Seligmanโ€™s PERMA model, Relationships sit at the core of flourishing. Self-Determination Theory tells us relatedness, the feeling of being connected and valued, is a basic psychological need thatโ€™s as fundamental…

  • The Side-Effects of Being Too Comfortable

The Side-Effects of Being Too Comfortable

For decades, we were fed the same messaging of what things, mostly food, we needed to fear. Fats, salt, red meat, sugar, cholesterol, even sunlight wasnโ€™t safe from the firing line of fear mongering. This went hand in hand with the other messaging we received about safety from these fears. We needed to stay calm,…

  • Why “Realistic” is Overrated

    Why “Realistic” is Overrated

The other day I was sitting in the office (as I tend to do), discussing KPI goals for Take Shape for the year ahead. Emma and I were chatting, looking back at what happened in January, what worked for us, what didnโ€™t go so well, and what we wanted to create during the year. Me…

    When Perfectionism Sneaks Back In

Last Sunday, I was getting in my usual training climb with my pack on, my breathing a little heavier than I care to admit, and my goal of Kilimanjaro sitting in the back of my mind. Sorry for those of you who are super keen to climb Kilimanjaro but havenโ€™t managed to yet, I donโ€™t…

Your Catch-Ups Could be Bringing You Way Closer

Think about the last time you caught up with someone you care about. You probably sat down at your favourite local cafe or restaurant (or maybe dared to try somewhere new), ordered a drink, and within minutes were replaying familiar stories. The catch up consists of the same usual updates of โ€œHowโ€™s work?โ€ and โ€œHow…

Has Life Shifted Recently? This is What You Need to Do
