Why join a beginner hike?

We have a lot of enquiries that start with โ€˜I donโ€™t want to slow everyone downโ€™, and these walks are tailored to suit you so that you never feel left behind. Our goal is for you to feel supported as you begin a journey outside, and this starts with small wins, and a feeling of community and inclusion. Weโ€™d love to have you join us for a Whitsunday tour or a trip to the Bay of Fires, and that journey has to start somewhere.

We hope this will enable you to achieve and ultimately smash any hike you choose! We will not only motivate you, give you tips, inspire you and show you what it is possible to achieve, introduce you to like minded people and empower you to dream big!

What to do after your beginner hikes:

At Take Shape Adventures, we have something for everyone. From Day Hikes and Weekend Escapes to Micro Adventures and Corporate Tours.

  • Avoiding Risk is Riskier Than You Think

Avoiding Risk is Riskier Than You Think

Most of us like to imagine weโ€™re sensible when we avoid risk. We donโ€™t leap from cliffs, we donโ€™t sprint across busy roads, and we keep our lives orderly. That means weโ€™re staying safe and living our lives to the fullest by actually staying alive, right? Well hereโ€™s the catch: safety is not the same…

  • Letโ€™s Talk About Energy

    Letโ€™s Talk About Energy

Energy can mean plenty of different things for nature, plants, machines, and especially for living creatures – thatโ€™s us! It doesnโ€™t just apply to the physical kind of energy that Zumba coaches seem to have endless amounts of, it also applies to the emotional and social energy, the kind we share with each other. These…

  • Future-Proof Your Knees for a Happier Life

Future-Proof Your Knees for a Happier Life

Despite what you may think, your knees arenโ€™t fragile, but they are certainly honest. Donโ€™t consider it an act of betrayal if they ache, because theyโ€™re doing their job by sending a message that something upstream (hips, core, technique) or downstream (feet, shoes, stride) needs attention. Think of it as a team meeting between your…

  • A New Era of Wellbeing is Here

A New Era of Wellbeing is Here

When we first started Take Shape Adventures, it grew faster than we ever expected. What began from a background in nutrition and fitness quickly took us into the great outdoors with our clients, where they experienced the benefits of moving your body outside the four walls of your standard gym. When we made that move,…

  • Turn Your Trust Inwards

    Turn Your Trust Inwards

When we talk about trust, itโ€™s usually about others. We trust our friends to show up when we need them. We trust our colleagues to deliver on time. We trust leaders to guide and make decisions for the good of the team. We trust our systems to keep us safe. But what about the trust…

  • The Best Medicine Youโ€™re Not Taking

The Best Medicine Youโ€™re Not Taking

This morning on our beginner-friendly walk in beautiful Warburton, something magical happened. Sure, we moved our bodies. We huffed a little up hills, stretched our stride on the flats, and caught our breath beside the river. But it wasnโ€™t the fitness that made it memorable. It was the feeling. That spark. That moment of childlike…

  • Scratching the Itch You Canโ€™t Name

Scratching the Itch You Canโ€™t Name

Thereโ€™s this itch. A vague, low hum under the surface. You canโ€™t name it, and maybe youโ€™ve never even tried. But you know itโ€™s there. It reminds me of that U2 song, I Still Havenโ€™t Found What Iโ€™m Looking For. That lyric has stuck with me for decades. Because honestly, havenโ€™t we all felt it?…

  • Stop Saying “Rest”. Do This Instead.

Stop Saying “Rest”. Do This Instead.

Letโ€™s talk about rest. Because sometimes, itโ€™s doing more harm than good. When we tell someone to โ€œjust restโ€, what do we really mean? For many people, โ€œrestโ€ looks like collapsing on the couch, scrolling their phone, or binge-watching Netflix. But the problem is when the body is still, but the brain keeps spinning. Anxiety…

  • When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Use These Tips

When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Use These Tips

You might be wondering why thereโ€™s a picture of a golfer here in an adventure blog โ€” especially since we donโ€™t exactly run golf trips. Unless, of course, you count swinging a hiking pole on a mountaintop! But stick with me, because thereโ€™s a point to it.

  • The Hiking Boot Myth We All Believe

The Hiking Boot Myth We All Believe

Ask a new hiker why they wear boots and chances are theyโ€™ll say, โ€œI need them for ankle support.โ€ Itโ€™s a long-standing belief that boots are the safest, smartest way to hike, especially for beginners. But as someone whoโ€™s led thousands of people through wild terrain and up mountains, I can tell you something surprising:…

  • Your Kids Need to See You Uncomfortable

Your Kids Need to See You Uncomfortable

We all know the saying: monkey see, monkey do. And when it comes to parenting, nothing could be truer. Our children are watching. Constantly. Not just listening to what we say, but absorbing how we live. And when it comes to wellbeing, thatโ€™s either a gift or a ticking time bomb.

  • Positivity is Not the Answer to Uncertainty

Positivity is Not the Answer to Uncertainty

Letโ€™s be honest, things feel a bit wobbly right now. Even if youโ€™re not glued to the news, youโ€™ve probably felt the rising tension. The economy, the climate, the general sense of not knowing whatโ€™s nextโ€ฆ it all builds up. It filters into our workplaces, our families, and our sense of personal stability. And while…
